ASSA ABLOY to be lead sponsor of GAI Education Awards

ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions UK & Ireland will be the headline sponsor for the 2022 Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) Education Awards.

Taking place 3 March 2022 at the Tower Hotel in London, the awards celebrate the architectural ironmongery professionals that have achieved a GAI Diploma, while also recognising the top performers in both the Certificate in Architectural Hardware and the GAI Diploma. The upcoming event will acknowledge the achievements of students from both 2020 and 2021, due to last year’s ceremony being postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the second time ASSA ABLOY will be the headline sponsor for the event, having sponsored the event’s Pinnacle Award for more than a decade, demonstrating its on-going commitment to supporting and championing the industry’s training and development.

Eryl Jones, managing director of the ASSA ABLOY Door Hardware Group, said: “It’s not been an easy few years for the construction industry. With the Grenfell tragedy and the Hackitt Review, every part of the supply chain has faced criticism and scrutiny in recent years, and then the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about its own set of issues and challenges.

“Nevertheless, there’s no question that the majority of professionals in the industry are committed to delivering the best possible levels of service, and the GAI Education Awards is evidence of this. The results achieved reflect all the hard work and effort that has been undertaken by the students, as well as demonstrating the industry’s dedication to specifying ironmongery to the highest standards.

“We would encourage everyone in the door hardware industry to pursue a GAI qualification. At ASSA ABLOY, we passionately believe in on-going training and development, providing those in our industry with skills that will stay with them for their entire careers. The GAI’s education is helping to create the next generation of highly skilled architectural ironmongers, and is open to all industry professionals and trainees all around the world, not just those with a GAI membership.

“The programme is suitable for architectural ironmongers, trade counter staff, wholesalers and manufacturers, ensuring professionals are better equipped to work with architects, contractors and others to schedule and specify the best possible ironmongery for every kind of door and window.

“Having constantly refined and developed its education programme for more than 50 years, we believe the GAI has played a critical role in helping to train and upskill the industry. Offering the only internationally recognised architectural ironmongery qualification to British and European standards, the 2022 GAI Education Awards are a highlight in the industry’s event calendar."
