Barbour ABI and CIAT partnership aims to support specification

Construction industry intelligence provider, Barbour ABI, and the professional body for architectural technology, the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) have announced a collaborative agreement to benefit businesses working in the built environment sector.

Barbour ABI is a market leader in construction industry intelligence. Its researchers conduct more than 1m interviews every year to produce reports that see beyond the data in virtually every aspect of the construction industry.

The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists is the global membership body which leads, represents and promotes the architectural technology discipline and sets and maintains the standards for education, practice and professionalism.

Kate Perrin, group marketing director at Barbour ABI, said the collaboration will initially focus on the sharing of data and insights for the continued professional development of CIAT members and affiliates but added: "this collaborative agreement has been created to advocate and innovate to support wider accessibility and affordability of specification tools and purchasing standards.”

Diane Dale, practice & technical director at CIAT, said the partnership with Barbour ABI will give its membership and affiliates access to insights on the built environment supporting continued innovation. "As we strive to achieve greater levels of standardisation across specification and procurement this will ultimately support further improvement of critical outcomes such as safety and sustainability."
