Consort Architectural Hardware publishes door hardware EPDs

Specialist manufacturer and supplier of architectural hardware solutions, Consort Architectural Hardware, has published Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) across its range of door levers, door closers, hinges and locks, verifying the sustainability credentials of its products.

EPDs are internationally recognised accreditations and are designed to provide transparent and comparable information about the environmental impact of products. The certification process involves a complete and rigorous Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) which evaluates the environmental impact of a product over its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal.

Consort Architectural Hardware says it is committing to continuous improvement in this area, and the certifications are accurately demonstrating the environmental performance of its door hardware products and supporting architects and specifiers throughout the product selection process as a result. Consort’s full range of door levers, locks, hinges and door closers are manufactured responsibly, can be fully recyclable and are tested to last a lifecycle of over 20 years.

The significance of sustainable practice is growing in this sector, and whilst not mandatory, the use of EPD-certified door hardware products in construction projects earns additional credit ratings for building schemes such as BREEAM, LEED, SKA and UKGBC.

Consort Architectural Hardware EPDs are valid until 1 April 2029 and are available upon request.
