Door hardware wins international interiors design award with UK product among finalists

One of the winning handles from Armac Martin

A suite of handles by Armac Martin won the KBB Product category at the 2022 SBID Awards.

The Digbeth range is an industrial style made from solid brass. The collection is available with both a ridged and smooth texture. The ridged Digbeth collection features uniform linear ridged details to the surface for a tactile finish. The plain Digbeth collection focuses on the cuboid shape and chamfered edges to create a sleeker aesthetic. The luxury hardware collection made in Birmingham consists of cabinet knobs, T-bar and pull handles, alongside robe hooks and cabinet latches with 20 brass finishes for use on kitchen cabinets to wardrobe doors.

Crofts & Assinder were among the finalists in this category for the Orkney Handle Range as was Croft for The Racing Series and Turnstyle Designs for its Wire Bracket Amalfine Cabinet Pull.

The Orkney range from Croft & Assinder

Based on the old oil drum barrels, the design for the Orkney comprises a cylinder bound by strategically placed rings. The British designed range currently encapsulates two barrel-style knobs and two bar handles but expansion is planned.

Inspired by iconic racing cars of the 1950s, the Racing Series by Croft presents two designs based on features that helped pave the way for the future of motorsport.

The Legacy collection emulates the stylish striping on famous race cars from years past, originally implemented to identify a team member during a race. With its smooth surface flaring out towards the end, the Legacy Collection has three indented stripes circling its outer edge.

The Brooklands Collection has linear grooves along its outward surface. Named after one of Britain’s first official racing tracks, the Brooklands Collection takes inspiration from a racing car feature used to achieve optimal aerodynamic function.

Turnstyle’s new pull handles

Designed by Christina Roberts, Turnstyle’s new Bracket pull handles were inspired by a 1950s vintage kitchen dresser Christina found in a local reclamation yard.

A simpler principle of Turnstyles’ best-selling designs, was created with a chunkier grip. This includes hammered and solid brass, hand stitched leather, and its trademark Amalfine™ designs such as Wire, Faceted and Woven. These are all set between two L shaped brass brackets and finished with a domed fixing.

The Bracket is face fixed with domed screws adding a retro look. Set either horizontally or vertically, this new pull is available in two different sizes, as well as all of Turnstyle’s signature materials, there are over 300 different finish combinations to choose from.
