Manufacturer FSB has received Cradle to Cradle Certified® (version 4.1) status for its stainless steel product families FSB 1076 and FSB 1016. This highlights FSB’s role as a driver of circular building practices in commercial architecture.
Certified at the Bronze level, these models reflect responsibility across the entire value chain, from material health to climate impact. As a result, stainless steel gains new relevance: as a design-forward and environmentally resilient material for high-standard projects, FSB claims.
Cradle to Cradle Certified® is a global standard that assesses and certifies products for their safety, circularity, and responsibility, aiming to create healthier, equitable, and sustainable futures. It evaluates products across five core categories: material health, product circularity, clean air & climate protection, water & soil wtewardship, and social fairness. The program offers different levels of certification (Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) and also includes specialised certifications for material health and circularity

"At FSB, sustainability is not a trend but has been part of our identity for decades," said Jürgen Hess, managing director FSB. "With the Cradle to Cradle certification for our stainless steel product family FSB 1076, we show that FSB does not just develop products but lives by its values. As the first hardware manufacturer in the world to receive Cradle to Cradle certification, we prove that FSB combines design and quality with real future viability."
"This Cradle to Cradle certification is clear proof of our commitment to material health, product circularity, and resource conservation," added Hubertus Kieneke, product developer and standards specialist with FSB. "Circularity in particular means designing products so that, at the end of their lifecycle, they can be separated into individual materials. That is a major challenge in both development and manufacturing. We are therefore very proud to be the only architectural hardware manufacturer to have officially achieved this."
