RIBA has announced the 54 winners of its 2021 national awards, the final public stage before the announcement of the RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist next week.
None of the victorious buildings were in Yorkshire, the East Midlands or Northern Ireland. Only two of the nine regional winners in the West Midlands made the cut, with the North East and Wales picking up just one national award each.
Meanwhile 21 of London’s 77 regional champions took home national accolades and there were 11 winners in the South and South East.
According to the RIBA, the ‘intelligent and refreshing collection of exemplary projects’ recognises the nation’s best new buildings and provides ‘an insight into the UK’s design and economic trends’.
