Zoo Hardware launches new door closers

Zoo Hardware’s VDC-EMT

Zoo Hardware has further extended its range of door closing devices with the launch of its new VDC-EMS and VDC-EMT series electro-magnetic door closers.

The new VDC-EMS (scissor arm) and VDC-EMT (slide track) series offer customers a tested, certified and compliant, electrically-powered door closing device solution for high traffic doors.

The product is ideal for installation within hotels, schools and hospitals where a more preferrable requirement would be to hold doors open during everyday use, whilst maintaining fire safety compliance by being wired into the building’s electrical and fire alarm system to ensure the doors close fully and completely when they are required to.

The VDC-EMS and VDC-EMT series are successfully tested in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 1155: 1997 and BS EN1634-1 and are suitable for use with up to 120-minute timber fire doors.

Ideal for care home settings

In addition, they have a functional option that meets the requirements of BS8300 and Approved Document M for situations such as care home bedroom doors where conventional mechanical door closing devices may prove difficult to operate by some residents. The ‘swing-free’ function removes the barrier of opening force/power from the device, whilst also maintaining the same fire safety functionality and closing requirement of the door through electrical connection to the building’s fire alarm system.

It is available in scissor arm (EMS) or slide track (EMT) configurations to suit specific project requirements. The scissor arm range is available in power sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6, accommodating door weights from 60kg through to 120kg, whilst the EMT slide track model is available in power size 3 (60kg).

Both ranges are CE and UKCA marked with the size 3 and 4 EMS models also CERTIFIRE approved. Finish options available as standard include silver or satin stainless steel effect, with further finishes such as black, satin brass and bronze available upon request.

Jason Tonks RegAI, technical product manager at Zoo Hardware, said: “As a leading provider of high-quality architectural ironmongery in the UK, we understand the importance of consistently responding to our customers’ needs and expectations and our latest extension of the range is a reflection of this.”
