Instinct Hardware has continued its expansion with the addition of a new powder coating facility on-site and three new team members.
The new powder coating facility boasts two ovens, a wet spray booth, a 4m powder booth and eight loading tracks. Allowances have been made for ironmongery to be jigged both horizontally and vertically.
As well as colouring their own ironmongery to over 150 standard RAL colours, Instinct is also offering powder coat to external ranges.
Haq Meharban, sales, marketing and business development director at Instinct comments “It is a very natural fit to bring powder coating into the factory and means we can keep control of each process start to finish. This in turn means we can give ever-more accurate lead times.
“With one 3m electric oven and one 4m gas furnace it also means we can complete smaller loads alongside the larger orders. Whilst this has meant significant investment from our company, we’re looking at the bigger picture. Less travel and packaging for the product and in-house quality control means we are offering more to our customers at each step of the ironmongery journey. We’re also reaching our own sustainability goals.”
New specialists join team
The Birmingham-based ironmongery firm has also appointed three new members of staff. Adam Simpson joins as a new waterjet programmer & operator and Dariusz Masal and Artur Zawadzki join as CNC specialists.
Smith joins the business with over extensive experience in precision waterjet work as well as a wide range of CNC, laser cutting and engineering knowledge.
Nil Chohan, Instinct’s operations and technical director says: “Having an in-house waterjet programmer and operator affords Instinct yet more options when it comes to bespoke hardware. We’re just delving into the possibilities but this new waterjet, coupled with Adam’s knowledge, allows more flexibility than ever before. We’re able to slice 2m pull handles or push plates and then move on to intricate engraving. It’s an exciting time for us and we’re pleased to welcome Adam as part of our growth plan.”
